Effective September 1, 2026, Document Registration Request (DRR) packages submitted by members of the Law Society of Alberta may be subject to a $25 re-examination fee for each Notice of Deficiency issued.

 

This fee applies only to certain document types, as listed below. The re-examination fee will apply to all DRR packages examined on or after September 1, 2026, including packages already in the Pending Registration Queue.

 

The fee will be charged when a package is submitted for re-examination under the same DRR. It will not apply where a new DRR is submitted. This fee will not apply to submissions from the public or other account holders.

Effective April 01, 2026, requests to extend deficient DRRs beyond 30 days will no longer be approved. If you are unable to resubmit deficient documents within the legislated 30-day return period, please resubmit the document package on a new DRR.

Effective April 1, 2026, Land Titles and Surveys refund policies are changing. Our threshold for issuing a refund cheque will increase from $5 to $20 and the refund threshold will apply to all non-charge account holder payment refunds, not just overpayments.

 

If your submission is rejected but the fees were correct and are below the $20 threshold, these fees will be re-applied to resubmissions. Fees cannot be transferred to a different DRR or service.

 

Professional users are encouraged to apply for a Land Titles and Surveys Charge Account to avoid impacts due to this change in policy.
